| Equinox launch JTAG In-System Programming (ISP) support for the Atmel ATmega FLASH Microcontroller Family |
Equinox are pleased to announce the launch of JTAG In-System Programming (ISP) support for the Atmel ATmega AVR Microcontroller Family. The JTAG algorithm yields much faster programming times than the traditional SPI algorithm due an enhanced protocol and higher bus speed. The JTAG programming speed is also independent of the target device Oscillator Frequency as the programmer supplies the clock during programming. This allows devices running from slow Internal Oscillators e.g. 1MHz to be programmed at high speed.
JTAG ISP support is available now for the Epsilon5 and PPM3-MK2 ISP Programmers as a chargeable ‘License Upgrade’. Support will also soon be offered for the FS2000A programmer, but this will require an external module to allow a manual RESET of the Target Device.
Device support / Programming Times:
JTAG In-System Programming (ISP) support is currently available for the devices listed in the table below. The approximate programming times are also shown.
