Very small HC912B32 Board
ZWERG12 is a miniature controller module with the HC912B32, a member of Motorola's new HC12 16-bit microcontroller family.
ZWERG-sized Controller Modules have been in our production program for years - with great success! All ZWERGs (Engl.: dwarfs) come with an identical form factor of 2.0" x 2.1".
The new ZWERG12 performs in the middle between the HC11-based ZWERG11plus and the 32-bit ZWERG332.
Upgrade Possibilities
Users of the HC11-based ZWERG11A can upgrade to the new Controller Modul without problems, since both modules are pin compatible. Therefore, ZWERG12 can be used in many existing applications without changing the peripheral hardware.
Speed++
The main advantage of the new controller core is it's speed. The computing power of ZWERG12 is approx. 10 times higher than an HC11 with 8MHz crystal. The HC912B32 also has much more program memory: 32KB Flash Memory are available on-chip.
Connections
The I/O-signals of the module are accessible via two wire wrap connectors on the edges of the PCB. There are no connectors soldered when we ship the modules, so you can decide yourself which kind of connectors (up-/downward, male/female) fit your needs. This is also valid for the 14-pin connector for alphanumerical LCDs. There are wire wrap connectors mounted for BDM12 and RS232.
The serial interface of the module delivers TTL-level. In order to connect to a standard RS232 (on a PC etc.) an additional level converter is required. The ZWERG12 Carrier Board (included in the ZWERG12 Development Package), is already equipped with such a level shifter. Apart from the Carrier Board, we offer several kinds of little interface modules (IF-Module) not only for RS232, but also RS485, 20mA current loop and optical media. |
