This 'USB to Serial' cable provides a convenient and low-cost method of connecting any legacy serial (RS232) device to the USB port of a PC.
It acts as a bridge converting 'RS232 serial data' from any serial device to the USB protocol / interface. This allows legacy products which only have an RS232 serial interface to be connected to the USB port of a PC.

The cable is self-powered from the USB port of the PC. It requires a set of 'USB drivers' to be installed on the PC which set up a 'Virtual COM Port' (VCP) which any PC application can then use to communicate to the attached serial device.

This cable uses the 'Prolific' chip-set and USB 'plug and play' drivers. It has been fully tested with all Equinox programmers and appears work very reliably on most PC setups.
