Phyton ChipProg-ISP2 device programmers enable support to all serial memory devices and a variety of embedded microcontrollers at no charge. The ChipProg-02 software package that controls these device programmers includes a free Basic Device Driver Library. To support other devices, not included in the list of this free library, you have to buy and activate an appropriate target-specific CPI2-D-XXXX device driver library license that normally covers a certain device architecture produced by a certain silicon manufacturer.
CPI2-D-XXXX device driver library licenses are hardware-locked type of licenses. Each purchased license unlocks a single CPI2-B1 or CPI2-Gxxxx programmer hardware to enable programming support for a certain group of devices. For example, activation of a CPI2-D-STCM license allows programming all ARM Cortex STM32 devices produced by ST Microelectronics Company.
Unlocking multiple CPI2-B1 or CPI2-Gxxxx programmers requires purchasing multiple CPI2-D-XXXX licenses of the same type. For example, for concurrent programming four STM32F427 microcontrollers by four CPI2-B1 programmers, one has to buy four CPI2-D-STCM licenses and activate each of them in a certain CPI2-B1 programmer.
Any device driver library license can be purchased together with a programmer, or at a later time. To activate a license an activation request has to be sent to Phyton. We will return to a licensee an activation code to be entered in a certain field of ChipProg2 software License Manager. This will modify the programmer's firmware and tie the license to the programmer hardware.
