EQ-SFM-1 - Standard I/O Driver Module (SFM) for PPM3-MK2 Programmer |
The Special Function Module is an interchangeable module which contains all the main driver circuitry of the programmer. This driver circuitry interfaces the Programmer to the Target System and is therefore subject to damage from over-voltage and ESD from the Target System. In the event of damage to the programmer driver circuitry, it is possible to remove the complete Special Function Module and replace it with a new one. This allows the programmer to be repaired in-situ without the need to send it back to Equinox thereby saving valuable lost production time. |

What is the purpose of the Special Function Module ? |
The Special Function Module contains all the I/O Driver Circuitry which connects the programmer to the Target System. This includes all the I/O Driver IC' and driver transistors.
When would I replace the Special Function Module ? |
In the event of an over-voltage or ESD problem, it is likely that the Driver Circuity may become faulty. This could be due to a damaged pin on one of the Driver IC's or perhaps one of the drive transistors has become damaged. Rather than trying to fix the entire programmer, it is simpler and quicker just to swap out the Special Function Module.
How do I swap the Special Function Module ? |
The Special Function Module is located inside the PPM3-MK2 programmer main case. To swap the module, remove the case fixing screws, remove the existing module and replace it with the new one.
