Phyton POD 84/625 for the PICE-MC PIC Emulator |

The POD is a board that carries an execution (slave) processor that emulates a behavior of the target MCU being under control of an application program and the PICE command. The PR1-MC- xx PODs are based on special Microchip ME "bondouts". The PICE main board controls a behavior of the ME chip, i.e. it can stop and start its real-time running and can read contents of some internal resources (RAM, registers, timers, etc.) when the execution processor is halted.
Besides the execution (emulating) processor each POD has a few logic chips, two connectors on the top to connect it to the Main Board and two connectors on the bottom to connect it to the mating Package Adapter.
The POD abbreviation includes (from left to right):
- "P" - POD
- "R1" - main board abbreviation
- "MC" - target microcontroller family code
- "xx" - POD Group Code e.g. "84", "77", "877", "184", etc.
If one POD enables setting different emulating chips on it (manualy, without usage of special tools) the POD group code follows another dash sign and a code of the particular emulating chip installed on the POD: "-711", "-84". Only a few PR1-MC PODs enables setting distinct emulating chips on them. Here are some examples of the PODs: PR1-MC-17, PR1-MC-84-711.
